The National Crowdfunding Association of Canada (NCFA Canada) is a cross-Canada non-profit actively engaged with both social and investment crowdfunding stakeholders across the country.  NCFA Canada provides education, research, leadership, support and networking opportunities to over 1500+ members and works closely with industry, government, academia, community and eco-system partners and affiliates to create a strong and vibrant crowdfunding industry in Canada.

Membership is comprised of a network of entrepreneurs, investors and the emerging ‘crowd economy’ participants such as crowdfunding platforms, consultants, marketing and media specialists, angel and VC investors, lawyers, accountants, and social enterprise groups interested in crowdfunding markets in Canada and beyond.  The National Crowdfunding Association of Canada is a networking and solutions-based organization that provides education, research, advocacy, support and leadership to Canadian crowdfunding communities.  While membership has a Canadian focus, the NCFA Canada remains open and inclusive to International members. Internationally, NCFA Canada plugs into global communities to facilitate a shared-resources network and forum enabling crowdfunding leaders from around the world to ‘think globally and act locally” through best practices, standards, and education.   • May 14, 2015, The ‘Group of 6’ Canadian provinces including BC, SK, QC, NS, NB, PEI adopted multilateral CSA notice 45-316, Startup Crowdfunding and Registration exemption that enable equity up to $500K per year
  • Globally, crowdfunding has grown to $16.2 billion in 2014, according to US-based Massolution’s industry research report (March 2015 release) and experts expect to approach $35 billion in 2015

  • Oct 19, 2015, the Alberta + Nunavut published a proposed multilateral instrument 45-109– prospectus exemption for crowdfunding start-up businesses up to $1M issuer lifetime exemption
  • Jan 25, 2016, : Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (collectively, the participating jurisdictions with Saskatchewan pending) published in final form Multilateral Instrument 45-108 Crowdfunding (view here)
  • Jul 26, 2016,  Alberta adopted a Prospectus Exemption for Start-up Businesses (ASC Rule 45-517)
  • Oct 24, 2016, OSC LaunchPad opened its doors with the first dedicated team formed by a securities regulator in Canada to help fintech businesses navigate securities requirements and accelerate time-to-market (view more).
